- AOB. Discussion:
- The meeting started with the formal permission of Prof. Dr. Tahmina Shirin, Director, IEDCR, with introduction of the newly appointed members of the CHAMPS team and other team members. At the beginning, the last meeting minutes were shared with the participants.
- Prof. Emily Gurley and Kyu Hun Lee attended the CHAMPS Coordination Committee meeting for the first time.
- Respective CHAMPS BD Team leads presented the updates of the activities and achievements since last coordination meeting. Dr. Zahid presented the updates of mortality surveillance and MITS, Dr. Afruna presented the updates about the DeCoDe meeting. 15 cases were missed from the report panel. Prof. Flora wanted to know the cause for dropping out and Dr. Afruna mentioned that the main cause was unavailability of the family. Then, Prof. Flora advised to mention the causes for dropping out of the cases in the next report. She also advised to share the cause of death with the family members whenever it would be available.
- Ms. Shahana presented the update on Social & Behavioural Science activities. She mentioned about several meetings with Union Parishad members and Chairman.
- Mr. Faruque presented the update on community feedback session.
- Dr. Atique presented the update on Demographic Surveillance and the related activities.
- Dr. Mahbub requested to collect the data related to vaccination against COVID-19 of the pregnant women (vaccination can help to decrease the number of death during birth). Baliakandi can be a good source for knowing the vaccination status of the pregnant women.
- Dr. Muntasir presented the update on laboratory findings of MITS. He mentioned that two neonates died due to COVID-19 infection on 8 th and 10 th day after their birth. Prof. Flora wanted to know whether their mother or any of family members were positive or not at that time. Prof. Tahmina and Prof. Ferdousy gave their valuable opinion regarding finding out the source of COVID-19infection.
Antibody test/ serological test of mother and other family members may help to know the infection status. This data is important for a satisfactory conclusive report.
- Prof. Flora advised to inform Director, IEDCR regarding death due to COVID-19. IEDCR may help to investigate the real cause and other epidemiological information.
- Dr. Zahid delivered a short briefing about Data Sharing.
- Dr. Mahbub presented about Capacity building and data sharing. He shared about the ‘Training on Systematic Review and Meta Analysis’ which will be held from 14 th to 16 th March at IEDCR. Participants will come from different departments of DGHS, icddr.b and IEDCR. Facilitators are from Monash University, Malaysia. Prof. Emily suggested to work on data or topic related to CHAMPS. It may also be related to ANC.
- Prof. Flora suggested to arrange the ‘Workshop with the technical Committee’ at an early date. After getting the date from Dr. Shams we can move to DG Sir for his appointment/schedule for this meeting
- Workshop with the clinicians may be done by last week of March—proposed by Prof. Flora.
- Prof. Flora also suggested to do’ Large scale dissenination’—3/4 months from now (in July/ August, 2022) as we have enough data to share with the policy makers.
- Prof. Flora also advised to share the data and findings of CHAMPS with the Line Director, DPM and other decision makers related to MNCH.
- ADG Panning and Research will have a meeting with the stakeholders of MNCH. There someone from icddr, b may present the update of CHAMPS activities.
- Mr. Mostofa presented the update on CHAMPS website design. Data was updated in website upto November, 2021. Ms. Mehjabin (new statistician) was told to work on data after getting access from icddr, b IT team.
- Prof. Flora concluded all these decisions and way forward and then Prof. Tahmina, Director,IEDCR ended the meeting.
